the prophet Mohammed approved Jesus as the light of the world and the bible as GODS word

Question: "Do the Qur’an and Muhammad affirm or reject the Bible? Should a Muslim read the Bible?"

Answer:
The Qur’an praises the Bible as God’s preserved truth.

As a Muslim, what is your guide? If hadiths or imams differ with the Qur’an, which would you believe? Most likely, the Qur’an is your ultimate authority. Does the Qur’an give you permission to learn from the Bible?

• “Lo! We did reveal the Torah, wherein is guidance and a light” (Surah 5:44a; 2:87).

• “And We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow in their footsteps, confirming that which was (revealed) before him in the Torah, and We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming that which was (revealed) before it in the Torah - a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil)” (Surah 5:46).

• “It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong)” (Surah 3:3).

• “If thou wert in doubt as to what We have revealed unto thee, then ask those who have been reading the Book from before thee: the Truth hath indeed come to thee from thy Lord: so be in no wise of those in doubt. And be not thou of those who deny the revelations of Allah, for then wert thou of the losers” (Surah 10:94-95; 16:43).

If you are a Muslim, you have no excuse not to read the Bible. The Qur’an commends it. Why don’t you start today? Begin with the Gospel of Luke, which tells the story of Jesus. He alone can give you assurance of paradise.

  1. I laugh at your folly, i wish you could not have recited those verses fro the Qur`an, because it tantamount to you accepting Qur`an as a book reveal by God, wish obviously you don't ...
Read through the Qur`an, don't just pick what you need, like you just did.
Read the Qur`an and you will have better understanding of who God is, not the confusion you believe in..Shaloom

  3. The verses are right, you did not read my comment i guess, u just skimmed through it, that's why you did not get my point....You have misinterpreted the verse, any sane person who understand that.
Remember it says "and We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light" , it did not say "He Isa(Jesus) his light"...Although some Islamic scholar agreed he was a light to the world in his own terrain.

I believe you have not read this part in the Qur`an.
… and their saying: "We killed the Messiah, 'Isa son of Maryam, Messenger of Allah." They did not kill him and they did not crucify him, but it was made to seem so to them. Those who argue about him are in doubt about it. They have no real knowledge of it, just conjecture. But they certainly did not kill him. (Surat an-Nisa': 157)
Allah raised him [`Isa] up to Himself. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise. (Surat an-Nisa': 158)

"'Isa, I will take you back [mutawaffeeka], raise you up [wa raafi`uka] to Me, and purify you of those who disbelieve. And I will place the people who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection." (Surah Al 'Imran: 55)

I just hated the fact that you took what you want from the Qur`an, if you so believe in the Qur`an then you need to read more of it, they are thousands of point you need to point out....
